If you’re looking for a family-friendly volunteer experience this summer, then consider sharing your time and talents at the Fair-
July 11-18, and enjoy free admission!

We need you to become a Volunteer Ambassador where you will support and energize the County Fair guest experience!

We have a place for everyone!

Guest Services Ambassador
Provide guests with daily program, help guests find activities, events and vendors throughout the complex. This role provides you the opportunity to improve guest experiences meet a lot of people!

Ticket Taker Ambassador
Verify tickets. This role provides you the opportunity to assist guests by providing information about various events and apply event wristbands.

Greeter / Gate Ambassador
Direct Fair attendees to the entrance points in order to keep crowd traffic moving in an orderly manner, especially during rush periods. This role provides you with the opportunity to make our guests feel welcome by guiding them through ticket options and main events for the day! May also be asked to assist with applying wristbands during rush periods.

Event and Entertainment Ambassador
Help with the setup and operation of various events such as contests that happen at Fair! Assist with grandstand seating for our four major ticketed evening performances. This role provides you with the opportunity to help events run smoothly in addition to providing backup in other service areas. Assist with set up, take down and clean up Queen’s Luncheon, Free Community BBQ, & Senior Pie.

Creative Arts Ambassador
Assist with set up of the Creative Arts Display area, provide supervision during the Fair of the exhibits, and take down of the Creative Arts display area after the Fair. Assist with all areas of the Horticulture Exhibits. Help exhibitors enter items, help once the items have been judged to ribbon and create displays.Help at the end of fair to return items to exhibitors and clean-up. Some experience with flowers and vegetables would be great but not necessary. Volunteers need the physical ability to handle– work clothes, long pants and gloves required. Some lifting, bending, and physical ability is necessary.

Guest Tour Ambassador
Provide guests with a tour of the 4-H & FFA livestock barns, 4-H & FFA exhibits in the Whittemore building and Creative Arts displays.This role provides you the opportunity to improve guest experiences meet a lot of people!

Ag Education Ambassador
The Ag Education Ambassador oversees the Ag activities in the Exhibit Building during the Fair. They ensure the AG Education area is professional looking, updated and in good working order. It is important to be engaged with Fair guests and promote the AG Education activities. It is important to educate the public of where their food sources come from and other interesting fun facts.

Administrative Ambassador

Performs general clerical duties for the fair office. Provides excellent customer service. Answers phones, greets visitors and answers customer inquiries or refers to the appropriate personnel. Performs general office duties including data entry, filing and retrieving documents and typing and preparing communications for review. Assists with creative arts, car show, contests and other programming during the County Fair, and other duties as required. Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and ability to operate standard office equipment including a computer, fax machine and multi-line telephone.

VIP Reception Ambassador

At the special VIP special events volunteer team members will be part of the keeping the event clean and beautiful to ensure that trash is collected and disposed of properly. Position will also include setting up tables and chairs in the new pavilion. You may also be asked to assist with crowd control.The VIP reception hosted by El Paso County Commissioners.

Set Up Ambassador
Assist with preparations for the fair. The project would include hanging banners and signs around the fairgrounds and removing them on the last day. Position will also include setting up tables and chairs in the new pavilion. This volunteer opportunity will assist in hanging banners, decorating, hanging directional signs, setting up and dressing the tables, chairs and pipe and drape for events in the new pavilion.

Parking Ambassador
Parking for Saturday, July 18,2020 Demolition Derby is a major need.
The Parking Ambassadors should be capable of standing for an extended period, prepared for inclement weather conditions, comfortable directing traffic, handling potentially stressful situations. There are multiple lots that are utilized for parking on this evening with high volume expected.


Volunteers are essential to the El Paso County Fair!
We recognize the time they devote and provide benefits to them as a thank-you for their service.

All volunteers will receive:
  • FREE general admission to the event for volunteers AND one (1) friend!
  • Volunteer t-shirt and credentials.

Being an El Paso County Fair Volunteer is a rewarding, yet demanding role. Here is what you need to know before you start your application!


Event: The 2020 event takes place July 11-18, 2020, with the majority of volunteer shifts occurring during as well leading up to and following these dates. Volunteer shifts generally are 4 - 5 hours each.

Training: Volunteers must participate in the following training.

Online training: To be announced.

Volunteer Orientation: Volunteers will choose one of the following dates and time to attend on-site orientation at Bear Creek Nature Center and the El Paso County Fairgrounds and to receive appropriate credentials and volunteer swag!

  • All potential volunteers must complete an online volunteer application for consideration.
  • For those individuals who are interested in volunteering only at the El Paso County Fair and meet any current operational and event needs, our team will send over a Volunteer Release Form that must be completed and returned to our office prior to Volunteer Orientation.
  • For those individuals who are interested in volunteering regularly at El Paso County Fairgrounds and meet any current operational and event needs, our team will be in contact with additional required paperwork for a criminal background check, a Volunteer Service Agreement and other pertinent paperwork.
  • All potential volunteers must complete an online volunteer application for consideration.
  • Volunteers must complete and return any required paperwork.
  • Volunteers must attend and participate in required training.
