The Mustang Ambassador Program (MAP) aims to impact lives through mustangs, creating advocates to protect and preserve wild horses. Mustangs, America's own "ownerless beasts," have roamed the country since their reintroduction by the Spanish in the 1500s. MAP was inspired by a simple idea from Susan Sutherland, who envisioned her adopted mustangs as ambassadors for wild horses. Formed in 2015 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, MAP uses mustangs in youth and adult programs to teach the importance of freedom and leadership, both for horses and people.
