The El Paso County Fair, held in July, is home to some of the County’s most influential youth development programs: 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA). These programs focus on developing service-minded leaders and responsible, proactive, influential community members. Our county and region are significantly impacted by these youth, as adults they serve in our community and inspire future generations.
Since 1905, the El Paso County Fair has made its home in Calhan, Colorado. Occupying more than 50 acres in eastern El Paso County, the El Paso County Fair began as a potato festival and has evolved into an annual community celebration featuring 4-H and FFA youth projects, nightly entertainment, and specialty events. Rich in history, the El Paso County Fair and Event Center is always seeking ways to bring in opportunity and improvements to keep the history and tradition alive in eastern Colorado. One area the Fair and Events Center is constantly looking at is overall facility improvement needs.
Specifically, the small animal barns located on the property are in desperate need of replacement. Accordingly, we have plans to break ground and build a new barn in 2023 to benefit our community, 4-H, and FFA programs. To reach our goal and fill this need, we are hosting a fundraiser event, Boots in the Park, at the Fair and Events Center on March 5, 2022. Get your tickets following the link below.
